The Last of Lanier Raceway

The American car community is unfortunately no stranger to racetrack closures, most notably with the loss of Irwindale Speedway in California. As budgets get tighter for tracks across the country, private investors have swooped in to buy these aging venues.

For car enthusiasts near Atlanta, GA, Lanier Raceway became a catalyst for grassroots motorsport across the metro Atlanta area. Originally constructed for NASCAR, Lanier Raceway has been used by Caffeine and Octane to host a variety of motorsport events ranging from car shows to drifting lessons. It was a safe, affordable entry point for enthusiasts and became a rallying cry against the illegal takeovers that plagued Atlanta, offering a better alternative to public roads.

Nov. 15th was the last event for Lanier Raceway before it gets turned over to its new owners who intend to carry out a large construction project to transform the space into an upscale experience. Although the mighty Road Atlanta is next door, access to these larger, prestigious tracks is often quite limited.

During the 2025 Clean Culture season closer, car enthusiasts from across the area met together one last time to celebrate a venue that meant so much to us. Track events and shows allow us to make new friends, learn more about the cars we love, and share our passion for everything on rubber tires and metal wheels. I can only hope that as time moves forward, we will be able to keep meeting and finding safe venues for driving.

And maybe, with some luck, the new venue will keep the track.

Below, I’ve dropped a big gallery of images from the event as a thank you. These are free for personal use. Big thanks to everyone who comes to support these events. Ride safe and I’ll catch you on the next one. And remember me when you need some photos, yeah?
